Spruce plantings for deer bedding

Match evergreen with soil types, planting zone, growth rate and amount of cover the species creates.  Soil and Water, local forester, NRCS good resources.

12 foot average but a more random spacing allows sunlight to reach lower branches.  Do not plant in rows.

Spray/mow first year.

Create one 10 yard opening per half acre (best to plant all and use areas that don’t come in or cut openings for doe bedding).
