Late July food plots

Many like to be out of the woods by August first.  As the bucks get ready to shed the velvet, they may relocate, but they wont go where you leave human scents. [caption id="attachment_3148" align="alignleft" width="606"] 'Sidewalks' are a great tool to dictate deer movement.[/caption]

Have you been there?

They say even brain surgery is easy after you have done it several times.  Same goes for habitat planning.  Pick somebody who has done it for a couple of decades and your parcels potential is on the rise. July Camera Surveys

Mid to late July is a good time to run some cameras over bait to see what the boys look like this year.  Its like Christmas - but be careful.  Too much pressure can drive mature bucks away or underground early. The Boys of Summer

What you have on camera this summer is not what you will have this fall - but its damn close.  If you have good deer in velvet and strike out every fall, you need to try something different. Let a group with hundreds of years combined experience help you make it better. [caption id="attachment_3368" align="alignleft" width="900"] Boys of summer[/caption]

Roadside Food Plots for Deer

Roadside Food Plots for Deer We did some testing last fall on Roadside Food Plots for Deer.  One of these plots had zero activity during legal shooting light, and all of the plots in plain sight of passing traffic saw very little activity during legal light. Roadside Food Plots for Deer We added a screen of junk trees to shield the deer from the cars, and the amount of daylight activity…

New Food Plots for Deer

New Food Plots for Deer New plots are often loaded with duff, and the soil to seed contact can suffer.  A great tip is to take a section of chain link fence and drag it behind your wheeler.  It will roll the duff into tubes you can pick up and toss, or you can leave them in the plot.
